New Old Time Radio (OTR) Station is up and running!

Quote from Dave on February 12, 2022, 6:17 pmOur new OTR Station is up and running!
We don’t have a full schedule yet, as building the schedule and adding many thousands of episodes takes a great deal of time.
However, we feel there is enough there to warrant opening it up to listeners. In the time between shows, and when we don’t have shows yet-scheduled, we are playing V-Discs or “Victory Discs” Which were specially recorded 16″ 78-rpm records made by the U.S. War Department during WWII for the troops. These are unique recordings by popular artists that were never released State-side.
We’re working on getting the Western-Hemisphere daytime time zone’s programming filled first, then we’ll get the other hours of the day filled. Please have patience with us as this is a big job!

Quote from zack on March 27, 2022, 2:01 amGreat idea. My grandmother had a 78 player and we used to listen to songs like “Flat Foot Floogie” and “Martha” when I was very young. I find this era fascinating. A whole new thing to explore. 👍

I can see if I can find them to get them added. 🙂

Quote from zack on May 22, 2022, 7:42 pmOh Hey, I tried to get in here several times after you posted but found that my trying blocked access to your site for about 15 minutes. Maybe cos I was on Linux? Anyhow, I’m in now. The version of FFF my Dad liked was by Wingy Manone. But I listened to several others on YouTube and liked them too. As for Martha, Dad had a guy at work make a tape for him from the 78s, and we listened to it often. So I remember it well but didn’t have a record handy to see the credits. The Martha version was almost operatic—a male vocalist, not fast at all. But again, I heard some other versions and liked them too. So no worries. Just thought I’d check in to express my appreciation.😊

Quote from Dave on May 25, 2022, 4:21 pmHmm. Being on linux wouldn’t make a difference.
The site does have protections against hacker, spammers, etc but as far as I’m aware all the blocks are 30min, 1hr, 1 day, and longer. For instance, after 5 password bad password attempts, you have to wait a day to try again… I don’t think we have any 15min blocks. What were you trying to do and what was the message you got? We’re always tweaking this stuff, so your feedback is super-appreciated!
As for the music, we’ll see what we can find.
I know I speak for @broehr as well when I say: Thank you for your kind words!

Quote from zack on May 26, 2022, 4:47 pmRight, 15 minutes was a foggy guess as it was a while ago. But yeah, it could have been one or all of the time periods you mention. If I remember right I was trying to sign in with Chrome (which should remember my password – it did just now) or with Firefox (getting the password from Google PW Manager). I assumed it was just a temporary bug so like one of those birds that give up when there’s no seed in the feeder (B. F. Skinner, I believe) I gave up after a while! 😊
I love this website. Along with Crooner Radio it rocks. Admittedly, I go back and forth between the two depending on my headspace. Seems you have a slightly different angle and, of course, a much broader palette.
